MAXWELL, the Ultimate Winner? (The Latest Maxwell News)

42-22580004

After doing some light research, The Latest Maxwell News has discovered the eligibility year for the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards. It appears that music released and in rotation from October 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009 will have a chance at being nominated for a GRAMMY.

Given soul singer and songwriter Maxwell’s track record (previously nominated for 6 GRAMMYs), coupled with the success of his recent project BLACKsummers’night and the widely popular single, Pretty Wings (released April 28, 2009), Maxwell has a very good chance of being nominated again. But will he be the ultimate winner?

If you leave it to Maxwell, he would probably say, “It’s not about winning awards”. We understand. See, that is the humble characteristic he has that so many of us love so much about him. But as supporters of his music, we want Maxwell to win a GRAMMY. Its not about winning for the sake of winning. No, not at all. Music supporters just want everyone else to recognize what we see and possible gauge what we get from the music.

Only time will tell, nomination-wise. Hopefully, that’s in the coming weeks. And if it is meant to be then it will. Keep your fingers crossed!!

If you got the time, August 31, 2009 is a week away, there are still things that can be done in a week’s time, that could help.

* Call your local/satellite providers request Pretty Wings, Bad Habits- Radio Request
* Encourage those you know to purchase the singles Pretty Wings, Bad Habits, & the album BLACKsummers’night,
* Vote for MAXWELL’s videos on countdowns – 106 and Park (BET), Top 20 Countdown (VH1) (don’t see his name type it in)
* Keep supporting the music!

NOW HEAR THIS GRAMMY PEOPLE:

Maxwell BETTER get AT LEAST THREE Grammy’s at the ceremony in 2010! Okay?!?! Really, he should walk away w/ no less than FIVE, but I don’t want to push it.

DO NOT nominate him for 9 Grammy’s and then “color-purple” him either!!!!

This cd DESERVES Grammy recognition. Don’t get me started on all the music you have given awards to that NEVER should have even been nominated!!!

Matter-fact, why is it that Maxwell doesn’t have any Grammys in the first place?!?!? He should actually be ADDING to his collection with this cd not STARTING a collection!!!

You know what…don’t get me started on this topic!!! I’m done.

Nicole, I hear ya. DO NOT GET ME STARTED. I have no earthly idea why this man does not have a Grammy when Beyonce has 7.

I could stomach the loss to Barry White in 2000 when he was nominated for Best Male R&B Vocalist for “Fortunate” but losing to Usher in 2002 when he was nominated for “Lifetime” was more than I could take. I almost lost my damn mind.

Can ANYONE remember what song Usher was nominated for in 2002? WITHOUT Googling it.

Waiting….still waiting.

I feel like this might be the year. The hiatus was painful for the diehards, but I think the casual adult R&B fan got a wake up call(appreciate this music while you can!)

If the arena tour goes like I believe it should…the album will continue to chug along (and a couple of songs will break into the mainstream.)

This is Max’s year!

I can’t think of a contemporary singer more deserving of a Grammy. Appreciate the music and the man. Let’s keep the faith. Go Maxwell!!!

God knows I can’t remember why Usher won. Isn’t he Haitian by the way?

thelatestmaxwellnews August 27th, 2009 at 4:15 pm

I don’t now about Usher begin Haitian but Maxwell is part Haitian & Puerto Rican.
