@Blaqgurk,

Can we get some more details about the concert in Detroit?

Yes, I went to the concert, and yes there were issues, such as ticket holders waiting in overcrowded areas for over an hour to be seated, but MAXWELL did his thing by showing much LOVE to Detroit! We love you MAXWELL!!!

Yes I went and had a beautiful time. The show was GRAND. The best performance I ever seen in 2009. I don’t want to give away all of Max’s BRILLIANCE of the show but I am glad I got a floor seat. My “official date” with Max was so SPECIAL to me. Going to the concert alone was a different kind of experience. I felt his performance was just for me. When he sings his songs it was only for me. I got teary eyed when he sung A WOMAN’S WORK. He announced he was a little hoarse but you couldn’t tell.

Maxwell tweeted that his stage got caught in customs coming from Toronto so the concert didn’t start until 8:45 so Chrisette Michelle only did 3 songs and Robin Thicke did 4. Maxwell didn’t seem like he cut his concert short. It was wonderful. The screens are awesome and the whole floor is like being front row because the stage stretches across the whole floor. His voice was hoarse but he sang his heart out. It was so cute after he did “This Woman’s Work” he said, “I did it!” Guess he was stressed about his vocal performance. Favorite new moment of this tour is his singing Playing Possum. Touching and haunting. Wish he had done some new stuff with Cops Come Knocking..he said all the same things about the kitchen and getting you dirty and chopping you up like vegetables, etc. Kinda stale but we still loved it!! He kept checking his watch the whole concert like he was concerned about the time too. Overall it was a great show!!

Oh and I forgot there was a group of like three girls that jumped on the stage during Maxwell’s Ascension encore..he just gave them a mic and let them sing all the while looking at security like “Help” then he called them Lil Mama and clapped for them as they were escorted off the stage. He also laid on the stage and let a whole group run their fingers thru his hair and rub his shoulders at the end of the concert. I will try to upload some of my video.

I was at the concert on Saturday. I love Maxwell soooooo much he was the bomb……truly. I’ve seen him everytime he comes to Detroit, I’ve even gone by myself. I feel like it is a private concert for me it is so amazing!!!!!! It was the best Saturday nite I have had in a long time. I wish I could see him again before the tour is over!

Hi~

This is my first reply ever to any site…but like all of you, Maxwell is definitely worth talking about. I actually won tickets from the radio here in my hometown The “D” as in Detroit and along with the win I had the privileged of meeting Maxwell in person.
You know I’ve seen some of his interviews and he really seems like a very grounded and humble person, this makes him more beautiful…I really wanted to tell him this at the meet and greet (9/26/09) but seeing him in the flesh just totally thru me off…so instead I shouted out to him that he was beautiful and just couldn’t believe I was standing before him and we hugged he told me I was beautiful too :-) !!

Yeah it was definitely one of the those moments where you need to pinch yourself lol

I also wanted to tell him that I love his artistry and the way he walks and how he shares his light with his awesome band, he makes sure that they get the credit they deserve as well and that’s cool…yeah this young man definitely seems like a genuinely nice person with a whole lot of humility…and although we were told we could not take pictures or ask for autographs I have ti admit that I was a little disappointed at first because after all I did spend a lot of hours and gained numb fingertips from dialing for this chance, and what young lady you know that would have loved to shown her girls you and Maxwell in the same photo lol

Anyway I quickly got pass the disappointment because after all I do have the best photo which is the one in my mind that wonderful night when I got the chance to meet Mr. Maxwell himself and saw those beautiful eyes and magnetic smile up close and was later treated with the awesome one of a kind voice see ya!!!!!!!
____________

Yes…not only was I there but I got the opportunity to meet him in person.. How? I won tickets from Mix 92.3/Ms. Frankie Darcell) (thx again 92.3). Although, we were not allowed to take pictures or get autographs I’ll always have the moment in my mind :-)

He really is a beautiful man in person..and judging from his interviews and TV appearances he seems this way in the inside too!! Very humble…I met him along with about 20 other winners and we hugged him (individually) and he thanked us for coming and he told me I was beautiful, my smile fell off my face :-) cause like I said, he’s very good on the eyes and in addition he smelled good :-) .

I really wanted to tell him that I appreciate not only his artistry and the way he makes sure that his band and back up singers receive the credit they so rightly deserve too… I couldn’t for blushing too much :-) !!

Baby, when he walked out on that stage with that cool swag (that walk, oh that walk) we were in for a treat that would take us for years to come!!

I did catch his show when he was here in 08 at the FOX. I didn’t think he could top himself but he did!! When he sung This Woman’s Work, although he was hoarse..YOU COULD NOT TELL..he sung it soooooooooooo beautifully and smooth and when he finished he knew he did good cause’ he proudly said “I did it” and I shouted “you sure did”!!!

A few more evening highlights…he was almost pulled off the stage…he gained three more singers (3 women hopped on the stage with him while he was singing )..and a whole lot of hand touching and hair touching as he laid, yes laid down on the stage (several times).

I really loved when he came out from the openings in the stage floor he was like a POP UP!! :-) And how he made each of us feel as though he was serenading us when he sang sitting down…and oh ladies that microphone had it going on…the way he performed with it all you could do was sigh!!

So sitting there enjoying the performance and reflecting on the few hours before when I was for a brief moment in his arms was my highlight…just inches away from those beautiful eyes…WOW !! What a night!!!!! I’ll never forget it :-)

My little brown dress will always remind me of the night I got to hug Mr. Max himself, such a smooth nice brother!! :-) and may I add my favorite male artist along with Prince!!
