The Charts Update (October 10, 2009)

As previously reported, BAD HABITS is on the move. The moves have continued upward. The song just entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Great! According to Billboard.com, MAXWELL has just made history again.

From billboard.com: This week, for the first time in the 16-year history of the Adult R&B radio airplay chart, one act monopolizes the top two slots on the survey. Maxwell not only achieves the honor with “Bad Habits” rising 3-1 and “Pretty Wings” dipping 1-2, but he also becomes just the second act to succeed itself at No. 1. Alicia Keys first traded songs at the summit when “No One” replaced “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” atop the chart dated Nov. 10, 2007.

“Bad Habits” is Maxwell’s fourth Adult R&B No. 1. “Fortunate” spent a chart-record 18 weeks on top in 1999, and “Lifetime” commanded for 15 frames in 2001-02.

What is slightly confused is the positioning, of Bad Habits & Pretty Wings. On Tuesday, September 29, 2009, LMN reported information found via Mediabase, Pretty Wings was still in the number 1 position and Bad Habits in the number 2 position on URBAN AC radio. In the snippet from the article above, it states Bad Habits is in the number 1 position on the Adult R&B Radio Airplay Chart (viewable billboard.biz). Adult R&B radio airplay charts are a measure of URBAN AC radio stations.

Regardless of position, the 16-year history still holds!! MAXWELL has two singles in the top 1 and 2 positions on URBAN AC (Adult R&B radio airplay chart) charts. So, congrats to MAXWELL and his band members.

This is awesome. Congrats to Max and the band, they are doing the darn thing! If he doesn’t get at least one Grammy, there is no justice.

Hey guys….on today’s Ellen show, a couple danced to “This Woman’s Work” as a dedication to breast cancer survivors for the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I don’t know if it’s online or not, but what I just saw was “Simply Beautiful.”

I was at MSG when Maxwell turned it out. I’m still overwhelmed by what I saw and heard. The man is simply amazing. The absolute best artist of the century. The Highest of the High. If he was in town performing again I would be right there front row, no matter how much it costs. Leave the cameras and camera phones at home ladies and simply enjoy the show. I didnt get there early enough to see Chrisette Michele’s performance, but Common was oustanding. If you are going to the show, get floor seats. It’s worth the money. I can’t wait to see Maxwell again.
