In Print: Maxwell’s Black Summer (Bleu Magazine)

MAXWELL is featured in the Fall 2009 double cover (Wendy Williams/Shawn Sutton) of Bleu Magazine. If you would like to download the issue click here Check out Bleu Magazine Fall 2009 (Hot Issue 2009) on news-stands October 23, 2009.

In this issue, you learn about the playful yet angelic side of soul crooner Maxwell in which he admits why he would never quit making music. “I don’t know if I could ever quit music, it’s just like a thing in me that I have no real control over why I need to do it – It’s just something that has to be done,” admits Maxwell.

Ok. Is it just me or is this “interview” just pieces of other interviews put together? I swear I’ve read all this before in other publications months ago. The exact same words in the exact same order.

I hate when they do that.

What’s up with Max and all of these models? Just saying…

Michelle D.A. October 21st, 2009 at 8:46 pm

@Nicole

Yes, much of this “interview” seems to be just a compilation of interviews that other media outlets recently conducted with Maxwell. I do feel like this article contains plagiarized content because the writer and/or magazine editors failed to state where these quotations originate. It’s one thing to have the quotation in the story as if it’s from an original interview and it’s another to give credit, i.e., “…the singer told the Associated Press last year…” or “he shared with [magazine name here] recently that…”

Also, I noticed that the article says Urban Hang Suite came out in 1994. It didn’t. It’s my understanding that the album was completed in 1994. However, the label didn’t release the album until May 1996.

As a student journalist, I understand mistakes. Hopefully Bleu runs a correction and/or a clarification statement.

I thought the same about the interview like I read it all before, sigh, Max has always liked his models I know of 3 in the media he dated. I guess I better get on that treadmill lmaoooooooo

Von October 22nd, 2009 at 8:52 am

@Pam

I understand what you mean.
I think it would be cool if he dated a girl not in the “fishbowl” industry.

@Lala

LOL!! It’s hard to believe that Max only has access to models to date. There are plenty of intelligent and gorgeous “regular” women in the world. :) I just hope he is open minded to that prospect.

What do you ladies think?

Bama_Gurl October 22nd, 2009 at 10:43 am

@LALA… UR latter statement had me LMBO for real!

The man definitely has a preference! We all do…. Because if you’re a 5’8-5’9 male, well dressed with a tight fade, you’ll get my initial attn EVERY time.. doesn’t mean you’ll keep it though! Treadmill..yes! How bout I was at the concert with 6 inch stilettos on trying to be 5’10! hehe…

@VON .. Per interviews, he apparently likes a really, beautiful woman that’s has ‘her own’. Most “models” fit that, however, I honestly believe that he would date a ‘non-industry’, intelligent woman whom he finds attractive. I’m sure he has at one point. Because no matter how beautiful you are on the outside, if you are ‘tow down’ on the inside, your ‘dyme’ status drops to a penny in my opinion. The ‘real’ you will come out eventually as beauty, booty and a bank acct wont sustain ya forever! All of the latter can be gone in an instant… He’s “allegedly” had some pretty good picks though.. so who knows, time & tears will tell..lol

Thanks for the read LMN!

@Von: What do you ladies think?

I think we should move away from that subject. LOL

@Bama_Gurl

@all of you
Yeah you are right, we need to focus in on his music because he has said many times,it’s all about the music.

allheavens October 22nd, 2009 at 8:17 pm

Honey, “Bleu” straight up plagiarized this article. It is just a compilation of previous interviews. But they will get away with it because they did not attribute the article to any writer, notice there is no byline.

And what the hell is “changing of the garb”, shouldn’t that be “changing of the guard”. LOL

If you are going the steal someone’s work at least get your quotes right. *rolls eyes*

I ENJOYED Maxwell’s interview!… :)

In 1997 after a break up from a longterm relationship I went through a very emotional period… I didn’t really BEGIN to HEAL until approximately 2001 or 2002, which is when I first DISCOVERED Maxwell!!!… :)

In 2005, 2006 and 2007 people that I was very close to passed away. In 2008 I again began to EMERGE from under this emotional period in my life …

Then “BLACKsummersnight” is released in July 2009!… :)

I say all that to say: As I discover, listen to, read or observe more and more about his music and video’s… My MAXWELL MUSIC COLLECTION is CONSTANTLY INCREASING!!!

And the PLEASURE has been all mine!!! :)
