Editor’s note: On his current tour, R&B singer Maxwell is highlighting the impact of antiretroviral medication in fighting HIV-AIDS.

(CNN) — Among the many blessings I’ve encountered in several years in the music business is the ability to use my voice to raise awareness for issues and to help others.

My greatest joy is in expressing compassion for others. It’s so important to take time away from your own circumstances and try to walk in someone else’s shoes or see the world through someone else’s eyes.

As part of CNN’s Heroes event last week, I got to see some of the most supreme examples of this from around the world. Tuesday is World AIDS Day, and I encourage all of us to put ourselves in the shoes of those battling this disease and especially consider some of the parts of our global community that are hardest hit.

Consider this: in many countries in Africa, AIDS is the leading cause of death. This is a preventable, treatable disease, but still of the 33 million people living with this disease globally, 22 million are in Africa, and it continues to kill 3,800 people a day on that continent. But the more important thing we should consider is that this is not hopeless. There is something that can be done, and there is a way to do it.

Maxwell’s commentary shows he is not just a handsome face and musical genius, but he is a man with real compassion for his fellow man. It makes him even more attractive than he already is. We need more men like him. What a World this would be. I know God has a special place in heaven for him. I hope I’m there too.

Thank you Maxwell for using your voice to help others. I know I listen to you so I’m positive others do as well. This issue is close to my heart. I’m a Ryan White Case Manager who provide services to HIV positive clients. I have your picture on my desktop computer at work. My client’s see it and respond to it. I tell them about your concerts so I’m sooooo very glad you support this cause. Marry ME PLEASE…Lol:-)

Thanks LMN for the link to Aicia Keys live webcast on YouTube in support of World Aids Day. I really enjoyed the concert w/special guest JayZ. I never would have known about the concert without you.

As Max would say “She was Killin”.

Thanks to you and millions of others who support such a worthy cause! It gives us such a new perspective on life, especially when this reality hits home for many people. I didn’t get a chance to see the performance on CNN, but the Grammy performance was awesome. Thank you for singing one of my favorite songs by MJ! That song makes every woman feel like a prize and that means your a winner. Wow…how many nominations? You should feel so blessed, favored and honored!

Love You and Be Blessed!
