Just pre-ordered my copy of the legacy cd. Lord knows I need a new UHS… had 2 copies, played so much they both skip… can’t wait!!!

Thanks LMN I just ordered my copy. I hope some of his live performances are on the album. The studio is great but Maxwell live is killin’ as he would put it.

Just pre-ordered the CD, cause I need a new copy as well. But I just wondered – is there anything new or different on this “legacy” edition?

@soulshadow55 – you’d think they would have something new or unique on the CD given it has been out for almost 14 years. We could only hope.

Did some looking around, usually the legacy branded editions contains 2 CDs/1DVD
CD1: Original Album
CD2: Outtakes/bsides/rarities/live seems like a mix
DVD: music videos/making of/interview

@sanjay – I hope so, that would be nice!

Kym December 10th, 2009 at 7:44 pm

@sanjay, video and live would be really nice

Maxwell mentioned this back on MySpace awhile ago…I cant imagine how it can be improved..But it would be nice to hear a remix or two…Maxwell is BRILLIANT at giving a totally different spin and creating a whole new vibe on an original cut…looking forward to this….

So this includes the DVD from the MTV performance? His Unplugged album is the best in my opinion!!! :0)

sanjay December 11th, 2009 at 1:37 pm

@KYM, I think they are saving the live for the MTV Unplugged Legacy (this will be an eventual release) I would as well love the Paradiso show to be disc 2

@Fee, there is plenty of material from UHS that could make up the 2nd disc, remixes/reworks “opus/mantra/mellosmoothe/softly softly/seguanca/tribute” – would be really cool is their were new remixes or some of those 300+ pre UHS songs/demos

@Chantay if they are starting in January, it is gonna be a good year

Wow, any of those ideas would be fantastic. They would keep me listening and watching for weeks. I love his version of Mellosmooth on the Loves Jones soundtrack! That version is smokin!!! It’s so interesting to hear the different versions of his songs – he’s a real “change-up artist.” He loves to mix things up and make them interesting.

I, for one, got tired of waiting for Columbia Records to release the Maxwell MTV Unplugged video. So a few months ago I ordered a copy from a guy on Ebay. The video is actually quite nice. The picture quality is about 97% but it is very watchable. It’s really nice to put pictures/video to the live music.

Maxwell is as fine as ever and is so engaging and seems real at ease with the audience. The CD also includes many, many old Maxwell interviews and performances on such shows as Essence, BET Awards, Rachel, Jay Leno and other late night shows. The second CD includes several of the music videos, fun trivia and, if you can believe this, a sing-along! It’s a nice two CD set. Just search on Ebay for Maxwell MTV Unplugged. It was only $20 or so. That is if you can’t wait for the official Columbia Records release.

Funny I was 6 when this album came out…and now at almost 20 I’m OBSESSED with it. I listen to it every where. That’s how timeless of an album it is. He should be REALLY proud of his work!!! I’ve gotten all 4 of his albums (yes actually store bought)…had to I’m a huge fan now. lol

I’m getting this edition for sure.
Can’t wait to hear his remixes.
