Well, Happy New Year to me! Thanks LMN for sharing that interview! Max is such a triple threat…looks, intelligence, and matchless in his sultry vocals. I never get tired of watching him talk. I’m so proud to say that I’m a die-hard fan! :-)

Exquisite interview!!! They used to tell me to shut-up too, Maxwell!!! lol

soulshadow55 December 31st, 2009 at 7:39 pm

Wowwwwww, he is amazing. Every time I hear him give his viewpoints and opinions on music, life, etc. I just sit here with my mouth open – like I can’t believe this brother is soo cool. He’s the “thinking-woman’s” soul singer. He’s such a centered individual. I wish I had met him when I was thirty-seven, but then again he would have been 3 years old so it never would have worked!!!

He was incredibly smart to take that time away and live his life. It was a roll of the dice that he didn’t care whether he won or lost. His life, and and living it on his own terms, was more important to him. He just intrinsically knew the life of a music star, with all its issues of fame and fortune wasn’t for him. I admire that most about him – that he didn’t want to play that game, didn’t get on that treadmill. He decided to do things his own way. That took a lot of guts. Not many young artists today would do the same, nor have they (and come back successfully).

He said that headstrong will comes from his upbringing, his grandmother and family. Everyone else can tell you you’re the best thing since sliced bread, but your grandmother will tell you to take out the trash. You can’t BS her – she changed your diapers!

Finally, as an African-American my heart is full because he loves his heritage and believes and loves black people. I’ve traveled throughout the Caribbean, Africa and Europe and the lack of unity among us is a sore spot for me.

Love you Maxwell. Again, you are the absolute truth!

Chantay, you keep me speechless with your ability to get these interviews and clips. You deserve a Grammy for Best Fan Website Host!

This is a great interview. Excellent. Finally some show of intelligence from a well rounded singer. Can you pass this on to some rappers and those other so-called RnB singers. They need English 101.

LindaT. December 31st, 2009 at 8:46 pm

Thanks for posting the interview. I really enjoyed it. LMN you really keep us a step ahead.

missladyjoleta December 31st, 2009 at 9:51 pm

This was one of the best interviews ever. BEAUTIFUL! Other soul singers and rappers need to take English 101 from this man. Teach Maxwell. Highly Intelligent, down to earth, humble, spiritual, profound, deep, spiritual, earthy (Caribbean and from the BK like me -LOL). Can we clone him for all women. Him and Barack Obama. LOL Lord da Mercy!

Ms. Deb December 31st, 2009 at 10:29 pm

This was indeed a beautiful interview. I love how Max is slowly revealing more of Max the man behind the music. I love it and I adore him. I especially love his love of his heritage and his grandmother. Well done Max. Thanks again, Chantay for sharing this gift with us. Blessings for a prosperous 2010!

I’m sitting here smiling a wide smile as I type this blog…Chantay, thank you for posting this interview.

Maxwell…raw…live…real…humble…fine…

Raw/real performance…the difference between making love to a woman and watching two people on TV making love…that’s as sensual as you can get!!!!

I love his affection for his grandmother…children remember the people who show them love in spite of circumstances…

Maxwell–A BEAUTIFUL BLACK MAN!!! :)

Arnita Blowe January 1st, 2010 at 12:24 am

Chantay, do you think you could find the BET Access Granted special he did when he went to Africa for the beginning of his tour in 2008? I would really like to watch it again.

Just a thought…

Arnita Blowe January 1st, 2010 at 1:27 pm

Thank you so much, Chantay!!! :)

Arnita Blowe January 1st, 2010 at 1:40 pm

The videos were amazing, especially the last video when his background singers rehearse “This Woman’s Work.” :)

Robyn January 1st, 2010 at 2:36 pm

Thanks LMN for posting the Access Granted links! At one point I was wracking my brain trying to locate the episode on the BET site…why would they remove such a piece of work and talent?!

Also wasn’t there a segment when HE was honored by one of the premiers?! It was sooo touching, but I’ve only heard it and was unsuccessful in trying to locate the video!!

Happy New Year and thanks again!! Cant wait for Maxwell to WIN in 2010!!

thelatestmaxwellnews January 1st, 2010 at 2:40 pm

@Robyn – yes he was honored but I couldn’t find it either. There is audio to it though. South Africa Welcomes Maxwell.

allheavens January 1st, 2010 at 3:01 pm

Very insightful interview. I love this Black man.

Thanks Max for recognizing the pitfalls of fame and realizing that adulation is not love. Thanks for having the courage to walk away and the courage to come back. Neither could have been easy.

And much love and respect to you for loving your people, your blackness and giving African-American women their due.

Kym January 2nd, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Thank you LMN for bringing this interview to us. I LOVE Maxwell. I love that he says he is a “Rebel”

Geminilady January 2nd, 2010 at 11:11 pm

OMG, this is truly one of the best interviews & the way they mixed some of the old music videos with the current music, GENIUS!

I’m sitting here in amazement of the beauty of this man. It’s just not his good looks, its his spirit, his soulfulness, whew, his everything, lol! Can you tell how much I love this man? It makes me so happy to see him grow & come into his own & finally receiving his just awards! Thanks for posting this interview!

sunstar January 3rd, 2010 at 9:37 am

I loved this interview!!! Max say he was a Rebel. Well he made me laugh. He is not only quick with wit but also intelligent and fine. Thank you LMN for this post and thank you TRACE for letting him talk and giving his fans a chance for him to share his views with us. As an artist, I can understand what he said wanting that love or acceptance. But the greatest comes from loving and accepting yourself. Beautiful Max!!!

Much love and respect to you Max.

PeePeeBee January 4th, 2010 at 8:05 am

@SOULSHADOW55 I back that up 100%!
If there ever was a Grammy for Best Fan Website Host, LMN would win for sure.
Chantay is tops on keeping the fans informed on this ultimate being called MAXWELL!

This interview was so warm and open.
I could say so much more, my fellow fans have expressed more or less the views that I share and support.

So I’ll just sit and savour and watch again and again.

Happy New Year to all you positive loving people. Much, much love!

calashi January 4th, 2010 at 5:51 pm

Chantay, God Bless U for all that you do merely for the simple fact that you RESPECT Maxwell SO much & his gift to the world! He is a beautiful soul! To see, hear & feel a persons growth.. M. described what music does to him, is how I can describe watching him over these past years..it has made me go up up & up in the spirit with just so much LOVE & respect for him!

I appreciate where God has taken him from and is moving him to. I am so happy that he made the moves that he made in so far as his career & life. He had to live. He had to love. He had to hurt but in that there was a REBIRTH! To share that with us I believe in the end is some of what growth is about, INSPIRING ourselves, inspiring others in whatever ways that may mean! I know that love will find M. again and we will be able to experience that in all its delight! Much LOVE & RESPECT for this wonderful MAN! I love him DEARLY. God Continue to Bless him & all his beautiful supporters! More Happy for all of us in 2010!
