What artist(s) would Maxwell consider doing a duet or collaboration with?

celticsfan January 23rd, 2010 at 10:30 pm

I would like to know if Maxwell picked the band himself and what he likes to do when he’s not working?

Mikal York January 23rd, 2010 at 10:45 pm

Max, If you lost the ability to sing (you call your gift your “Saving Grace”) how would you continue to lend your veritable poetry, (which by the way, are collections of masterpieces) to the world?

Dr. V. Williams January 23rd, 2010 at 11:03 pm

I have a 3 part question: (1) How did you get that scar over your left eye? (2) What qualities do you like in a woman? (3) What qualities do you offer a woman? Other than what we already know, like you’re BEAUTIFUL beyound belief, and SENSITIVE to a fault, and you have the most GENTLE HEART this side of heaven, and a SMILE that brightens up the darkiest day.

kimmykimk January 23rd, 2010 at 11:16 pm

We know you have a great voice, and you like all types of music. I was wondering if you plan to do more than just R and B. With the great voice wouldn’t you like to do: some pop,and rock songs also others ventures in music.

FEE January 23rd, 2010 at 11:22 pm

If you could do any genre of music besides soul music, what would it be? Why?

D. L. James January 23rd, 2010 at 11:40 pm

Since your parents are from such diverse backgrounds, how did they meet?

“Luscious Carob Bean” January 23rd, 2010 at 11:44 pm

Do you take or have you ever taken vocal lessons? Why/why not?

Jan January 24th, 2010 at 1:03 am

That was fun!! I could ask a million questions, talk with Maxwell for hours but I only asked these:

1) In the shifting, changing, somewhat unreal and very conditional music industry, what keeps you centered, grounded and focused?
2) If you could go back and give your young self advice, what would it be?
3) What musical/artistic legacy would you like to leave when you “pass the baton”?

Thank you for sharing your gifts with us and for bringing class back into the game.

Questions for Maxwell: When did you discover your musicality? Do you come from a musical background? When did you know that being a musician was something you wanted to pursue?

Janice January 24th, 2010 at 5:57 am

If you was given three wishes, what would they be?

Ms. Deb January 24th, 2010 at 6:53 am

Maxwell, I have been a fan of yours since Urban Hang Suite and am in awe of your musical genius. My question is when you write a song, which comes first, the lyrics or the melody, and how do you fit them together so perfectly?

delphine nichols January 24th, 2010 at 7:50 am

maxwell do you have any brothers or sisters? and do have a big family? are you the only one in your family that sings you have such a god given talent to sing. when you meet a woman what to you personly stands out to you about her?

allheavens January 24th, 2010 at 10:27 am

You’ve mentioned on numerous occasions that you want to marry and have children. What if that doesn’t happen for you? And since the two do not necessarily go hand-in-hand which of the two is more important, marriage or children?

Sandra January 24th, 2010 at 12:38 pm

I was lucky enough that maxwell gave me his sweaty towel after a tv show in Rotterdam, and to be honest it sure did smell good.. So I’m wondering what cologne does Maxwell use??

Adriane Rivers January 24th, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Will your Grammy Museum concert taped December 2009 be available on DVD? If so, where and when can we purchase it?

LindaT January 24th, 2010 at 2:28 pm

I’ve been to quite a few of your concerts starting from 1997. I notice someone had asked this same question. When will there be a compilation of your concerts on DVD?

Robyn January 24th, 2010 at 2:37 pm

Someone already asked my initial question on the Time site, but it’s not posted here, so I’ll add it to LMN…What does his bracelet(that he usually wears)represent?!, Since that question has been submitted, the next question that I have is…Does he like olives and is there a preference of green, purple or black?!

Carla January 24th, 2010 at 2:53 pm

I was raised by a granparent , my granddaddy God rest his soul. What is the most valuable lesson you learned from your beloved grandmama?

MILLER BROWN January 24th, 2010 at 2:53 pm

We worked on the “Maxwell Day Proclamation” in Seattle to give award to Maxwell the artist, and would still like to make sure this can happen, please let us know what is needed to make sure we can follow through!!

Arnita Blowe January 24th, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Do you cook your meals or does someone cook for you? What is/are your favorite food(s)(sweets included)? You change the melodies in your songs when you perform them live (which I love)…Do you and your musicians rehearse them that way or do you que each other while on stage? I wrote on my FB blog that your concert reminded me of Teddy Pendergrass’ concert (before his accident). Has anyone else compared you to him?

Arnita Blowe January 24th, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Someone earlier posted that Embrya is his/her favorite cd…It’s also my favorite!!! What was the inspiration for “Know These Things: Shouldn’t You?”

Kym January 24th, 2010 at 4:50 pm

These are the questions I had for our beloved Maxwell

Is there any song(s) he wished he never recorded? (All though we love them all you know artist feel a certain way about their own music)

Will he record “Simply Beautiful”? I like Al Green, but I LOVE the way Max does it.

Does it annoy him when they ask him why he cut his hair? (I Think the change is so so good on him)

Vena January 24th, 2010 at 4:54 pm

Questions for Maxwell: This band is wonderful!
1. How are your band members chosen? Do you choose them yourself or is the band assembled for you?
2. You have quite a few songs to choose from when you decide to create a playlist for a live performance. Why are some fan favorites left off (for example, Drowndeephoola)?

Bama_Gurl January 24th, 2010 at 8:26 pm

Thanks LMN!! It’s been awhile since I’ve been on! Most of my questions were already asked so I simply inquired: “What makes your heart smile?”

Christine January 24th, 2010 at 10:05 pm

1. Do you think there will ever be a post-racial America.

Thanks for the information Latest Maxwell News.

I would want to ask Maxwell something that I noticed on his BLACKsummers’night DVD.

This would be my question.
———————————————-

I noticed something interesting while viewing your BLACKsummers’night DVD!

A particular CD song list in direct focus of the camera, shows “Stop the World” as first being entitled, “Imagine If It Was You”.

Now, since “IMAGINE” is such an imperative word in the song, does this song represent an intimate relationship that has already happened OR something that is simply transpiring within your “imagination” that you would really love to see happen with a specific love interest?

Vannie January 24th, 2010 at 11:16 pm

and one more question for Maxwell would be.
———————————————-

You’ve shared a lot recently about the shame heaped upon you in childhood and also how ones within the Carribean culture are not loving towards children.

Were your instances of receiving apathy and being made to feel less than, primarily at the hands of women?

And IF so, as a man, does it hinder a positive perception of women as a whole, when embarking upon love relationships with them, today?

I ask because based on what you’ve shared, for 13 years you’ve spoken of wanting love and marriage, but, you keep experiencing break-ups. Talk to us Maxwell and you might even “Help Somebody” at the sametime.

Shantae January 25th, 2010 at 12:46 am

Will you EVER sing Softly Softly by Sweetback? It’s such a beautiful and haunting song, and every time I hear it, it makes my heart race. You should add it to your concert playlist.

sunstar January 25th, 2010 at 5:32 am

First I would like to thank LMN for letting us know about this privilege to ask Maxwell a question! So my question for Maxwell would be as an musician do you have other interest in the arts such as painting or sculpture?

Bella Brown January 25th, 2010 at 7:51 am

1) Describe yourself in three words.

2) Describe your perfect day.

3) If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be? and why?

4) Do you think it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?

5) I was recently reading some of the comments our community have left regarding their appreciation for you on You Tube and some one had posted the following comment ” Maxwell could sing life back into the dead” For me that was such a profound and moving thing to read that ones craft can make another feel so deeply, how do such comments make you feel?

Bubba Wuabba January 25th, 2010 at 2:58 pm

Due to vast changes in the music industry / business model, what are your thoughts on continuing with the traditional model (e.i. artist signing with Sony) or following the model of Radiohead after they finished their contract? Your contract ends after the Trilogy?

On the Radiohead theme, would you ever do a cover of one of their songs? You did an amazing cover of Nine In Nails, Gotta Get Closer.

CC January 25th, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Would you consider adding a Harpist and a flute like instrument to your Artistry, at least sometimes? These would accompany any of your vocal range nicely.

The Peanut January 25th, 2010 at 9:06 pm

Has the increase in popularity starting to take it’s toll on you? You have often spoke of having a everyday life, as necessity to your creative process. How will you maintain that with your sky rocketing popularity? Most of all I wish for you love, family and happiness if that is truly what you want. So though your music is special, I do not presume that is you in totality. So I wish for you the ultimate love story. Even if it means you taking time to find it. For no crowd can love you the way one special person can. I sure you are aware of that.

Take care of yourself continue to know when to get off track. From someone living a real life love story, hoping your are, or will be be living the same!!!

delphine nichols January 26th, 2010 at 12:38 am

Maxwell I would like to ask you a few questions: 1) I have noticed you talk about god alot are you a christian? I’m sure that has alot to do with your grandmother raising you because how you were taught as a child and your up bringing. 2) would you consider doing a song with howard hewett? I like his music also you have heard his song that he made its called say amen. It would be nice if the two of you could sing that together what do you think? 3) Do you think you will ever get married? And to what type of woman. But please take your time I know you are 36 years old you have such a humble spirit about you and I know that comes from God.

Eva Jimenez January 26th, 2010 at 10:32 am

You have a very personal style, quite far from the current R&B sound and I think that’s why you are so special but, what makes you keep it through the years instead of moving “to the other side”, as many artists do, collaborating with the big-names to enlarge your audience?

lala January 26th, 2010 at 1:38 pm

allheavens…talk about cut to the chase have you posted this on the TIME website? I would love for him to answer that one…..

Dee Payne January 26th, 2010 at 2:48 pm

I have too many to ask, so I’ll break it down.

What puts you in the mood?

Do you have a celebrity crush?

Where is the wildest place you ever made love!

allheavens January 26th, 2010 at 9:12 pm

@LALA

Life if too short, so I cut RIGHT to the chase. And yes, I posted it on the TIME website.

I just wanted to ask him about something that would be life altering.

2Serenity January 27th, 2010 at 1:52 am

Will you give The Latest Maxwell News an exclusive interview from time to time and exclusive content that won’t be found anywhere else on the web? I tend to look at The Latest Maxwell News more than musze.com so I’m just wondering. Sorry for not being musze.com minded but Chantay updates more than you. Sorry for being a PITT (pain.in.the.tush) on this but we need to know. It’s all love. Thanks! : X

Bianca January 27th, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Maxwell seems to be really enjoying the success and the accolades that have come from his latest album and tour, etc, but I wonder if the obligations that come along with it (appearances, performances, travel, request for interviews/photos) gets to be too much at times. Not trying to imply that he doesn’t appreciate his fans or his success at all. He just seems like such a private person and it makes me wonder if he wants to retreat in the midst of all of this and, if so, where does he go to regroup and recharge his batteries?

Secondly, are you a difficult person to get to know? Is it easy for you to let people in?

Wallflower January 27th, 2010 at 1:32 pm

@2SERENITY, I was thinking the same thing. It would be nice if Maxwell did an interview for his fan websites.

Sharon January 27th, 2010 at 7:29 pm

Will you disappear (again), after the Black Summers Night trilogy is completed?

Dee Payne January 27th, 2010 at 10:05 pm

Will you ever consider working with Prince?

Miss Dee January 28th, 2010 at 11:21 am

I have been “Fortunate” enough to attend your concerts each time you’ve come to the DC area. I was VERY skeptical about how the production of the BSN Show would come across from concert Halls to the Arena stage. I must say I was very impressed! The Y shaped stage was GENIUS! The question is,.. were you responsible for the concept of the Tour?

Brenda January 28th, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Are you afraid of women coming on too much (i.e. twitter)? I smell stalkers…

thelatestmaxwellnews January 28th, 2010 at 6:12 pm

@Brenda – Hopefully, someone is watching ‘everywhere’ to make sure no one is a threat to him.

P.S. – took those names out. But I too would like proof “if” someone truly is watching.

Star January 29th, 2010 at 6:11 am

Re: Got Any Questions for MAXWELL?

Does M plan to release the 2010 Grammy Nominations Tribute to Michael Jackson (“Lady In My Life”) to DVD?

P.S. I agree we would LOVEEEEEEE to see much
of the featured video from the live
concerts on DVD!…… :) :) :)

Change...Yes We Did! January 30th, 2010 at 9:42 pm

Will you take another hiatus from music for example to get married and/or raise a family? What is next for you musically after you have released your BlackSummersNight trilogy? Would you ever stop recording music why or why not? Would you produce or write for other artists?

Sharon January 31st, 2010 at 9:30 am

I applaud your efforts to support the people of Haiti. Will you do anything in the future to support Breast Cancer Awareness, since proceeds from the Fistfull of Tears single (orignally slated for Breast Cancer Awareness) have been diverted to support Haiti?

Evelyn Early February 2nd, 2010 at 11:58 am

Maxwell, what are your spiritual beliefs and do you attend any church-like services and if so what are they?

You said you want to be married and I know you have the girlfriend so when do you think is a good time to seriously start dating and settling down? I mean it’s not imperative that you get married but if you do how would you go about selecting or screening your potential bride. You’re gorgeous and all but still that doesn’t mean that you might get the “perfect” one out there because of that and your sexiness and talent and beautiful flowing spirit that people sometimes mistake for weakness.

I know you have a good game plan to sift them out.

I love sweets and tasty treats so tell me what do you like that really gets you going day to day. I love tea, herbal teas, so what do you like that’s sweet because I want to make it and see if I like it too.

My birthday is February 11th, My name is Evelyn…can you sing something for me and send it to my email address: goddesssnake@yahoo.com or sweetflowsnhoney@aol.com. Please!!!

Dawn February 5th, 2010 at 7:27 pm

I have one more question, does Maxwell have any favorite genres of music? If so, which ones?

Thanks a Million!

robin February 9th, 2010 at 3:41 am

I am a normal girl who would like to get to know a normal guy. I know you are MAXWELL, but you are just a guy too. When you want to get away, away from the lights and cameras and just kick back and talk, about anything, I am here. No expectations……
