INTERVIEW: 10 Questions for Maxwell (TIME) (video)

Two weeks ago The Latest Maxwell News asked, Got Any Questions for MAXWELL?, and the corresponding interview (video) from TIME magazine is now available. Look for the interview (in print) to appear in TIME magazine sometime next week when the February 15, 2010 issue is released. Was your question answered? Download the podcast. See the video below.

Love me some him….

Maxwell is so handsome. 10 questions not enough for me and they picked questions, that I feel like he has answered before. It’s all good though. Thanks LMN always on top of it.

Michelle D.A. February 5th, 2010 at 1:17 pm

He answered my question about fans crossing the line! I asked three and I’m stoked they picked one. ;-)

lala February 5th, 2010 at 1:57 pm

LMN…Thanks for keeping us informed so quickly and I do agree that most of the 10 questions were answered in previous interviews. But I do appreciate Time for recognizing him.

MJ February 5th, 2010 at 5:37 pm

I Love hearing him speak!!! He captures your attention and your never have to question or second guess what he’s saying. You guys are right 10 questions weren’t enough for him!!!

BT February 5th, 2010 at 6:42 pm

I really think they could have picked more original questions. He’s explained a hundred times why he’s cut his hair!!
@Michelle D.A: I didn’t hear your question about fan crossing the line

thelatestmaxwellnews February 5th, 2010 at 8:19 pm

He’s answered a few of the questions before, yes. But TIME magazine hasn’t interviewed with him in a long time probably since he had hair so they have to cover that question.

Overall, I think the interview was nicely done.

I just wanted to let everyone know there will be a TV One special: SOS: Help for Haiti telethon from 8-10 p.m. tonight. Check your cable provider for dates and times.

Thanks!

Wallflower February 5th, 2010 at 10:13 pm

Correction: BET will host SOS: Help for Haiti telethon from 8-10p.m.

allheavens February 6th, 2010 at 10:39 am

Time can do better, over half of those questions have been asked and answered hundreds of times.

Why did you cut your hair? Please, please why did they choose that one?

I wonder if Max got to choose which questions were going to be asked.

Michelle D.A. February 6th, 2010 at 11:49 am

@BT There are questions in the video that are not in the print/Web version of the story and vice versa. The Latest Maxwell News eds should post the actual question and answer story.

Read it here: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1960264,00.html

OR pick up the lastest edition w/ U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates on the cover. It’s in there!

The question is on page 1, and his answer is on page 2!

Here’s what I asked:

“Has a fan ever crossed a boundary that should not have been crossed?”
Michelle D. Anderson, DETROIT

“It’s really interesting how people rationalize their behavior: “I love you so much, I’m going to stalk you.” “I love you so much, I’m going to pretend to be you, become friends with your ex-girlfriend, try to get her phone number.” In some ways I want to talk about this, but in other ways I don’t want to give them the satisfaction. You have to remember that they’re just one person, and there are so many other fans who deserve better, so let it ride.”

I asked three and they picked this one. I wished TIME would have picked my other question about his younger fans and how recorded his album at 20 or 21.

Michelle D.A. February 6th, 2010 at 11:50 am

Oh, my bad. LMN did post the link to the written Q&A and noted that the video doesn’t include all the questions asked. I don’t think some readers noticed…

Wenylla Reid February 6th, 2010 at 12:36 pm

OMG I am the person from Union NJ!

thelatestmaxwellnews February 6th, 2010 at 3:21 pm

@Michelle – yeah, the link to the written interview was ALWAYS there.
:-)

Decymba February 6th, 2010 at 5:05 pm

I think some interesting and great questions were asked. Although my questions were not in the interview, I appreciated the opportunity to be able to ask them anyway. After listening to Maxwell’s responses to the questions that were included in the interview, I’ve sort of come to the conclusion that maybe…just maybe Maxwell will only open the door to his soul but so far. Saving some answers for the Q&As from those who are closest to him or those who will become close. I think I respect that…I think I respect that a lot. I may never know if his Mtv Unplugged Performance will be released on dvd, but I do know that he is a creative and talented artist and that his work speaks volumes, and perhaps that is enough.

thelatestmaxwellnews February 6th, 2010 at 5:35 pm

@Decymba – well said. Last year, there was mention that the MTV Unplugged performance would be released as Maxwell continues on with his musical journey this time around.

lala February 6th, 2010 at 6:49 pm

I checked the link….I like this question and answer….
Do you cook?

Arnita Blowe

NEWPORT NEWS, VA.

When you’re from New York City, you don’t really cook. You order. I can make really good eggs, boil really good water. But I love women who can cook. You can cook, you got it. It’s all yours. I’m just letting you know.

As I type this I’m heading out the door to get ALL of Nigella Lawson cookbooks …I will see you guys later lmao :-)

Paula February 6th, 2010 at 11:47 pm

Loved the questions and answers. Max has a way of discussing himself without really giving anything personal away that is quite intriguing. I can respect that. Great Q&A.

Decymba February 7th, 2010 at 11:54 am

@THELATESTMAXWELLNEWS – Thank You. I am anticipating the release of Maxwell’s Mtv Unplugged performance on dvd, it was (and remains to be) an incredible performance. Thank you also for providing a wonderful site where fans can come and voice their point of view.

Blessings

Arnita Blowe February 7th, 2010 at 5:33 pm

Chantay, is there some way that I send Maxwell a message to thank him for answering my question?

I’m stunned but excited… :-)

Arnita Blowe February 7th, 2010 at 5:34 pm

@ Lala–thanks!!! :-)

thelatestmaxwellnews February 7th, 2010 at 5:45 pm

@arnita – Other than twitter, I don’t know of any other way.

Arnita Blowe February 7th, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Thanks Chantay!!! :-)

Joaquin February 8th, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Very disappointed in the questions!!!! So bland!!!

(TIME) (video)

I LOVE ALL of “Maxwell’s” interviews! :)

@ Decymba

I love when you said, “I’ve sort of come to the conclusion that maybe just maybe Maxwell will only open the door to his soul but so far.” “Saving some answers for the Q&As from those who are closest to him or those who will become close. I think I respect that…I think I respect that a lot.”

WE FEEL YOU!…………………. :) :) :)

P.S. Guarding ones PRIVACY is one of the
qualities that I admire, love and
respect about “Maxwell” the most! :)

Star February 13th, 2010 at 1:21 pm

One More Thing!… :)

Looking into future cooking classes! :)

P.S. It’s like pulling teeth! :)

Arnita Blowe February 13th, 2010 at 3:48 pm

@Star…LOL!!! :)

Glenda February 17th, 2010 at 4:19 pm

I CAN COOK! I CAN COOK! LOL! I love listening to Maxwell speak as much as sing. He’s super sexy and just overall has this amazing aura about him. I do agree the questions were blah but well put together. So glad he’s getting recognition that he very well deserves!

Decymba February 17th, 2010 at 5:30 pm

@Star, Thank You. I like that Maxwell gives his fans 110 percent as an artist. But as an artist and individual I feel that it is important for him to be able to reveal or reserve what parts of himself he is most comfortable with. I agree with you, I too respect how Maxwell protects his privacy.

tee February 17th, 2010 at 9:48 pm

awwwwwwww..he is like a sunday morning with birds singing sweetly!

Star February 19th, 2010 at 1:57 pm

@ Glenda

Re: “I CAN COOK! I CAN COOK!”

That was SO GOOD!… PERFECT TIMING!!!… :)

I CAN MAKE really good eggs and boil really good water too! Does that count?!… :)

@ Arnita, Decymba & Tee……… :)

P.S. LOVE to the LMN FAM!
