Why are folks shocked that he said Zoe Saldana? LOL! He tweeted around Christmas time that he went to see Avatar. Then he mentioned Zoe’s name in a way that made it clear that he was into her.

I can understand his choice of Ms. Zaldana as well. She’s a lovely, smart young lady and very talented. They’re both from a Caribbean/Latin background. She’s got a strong career going on and he said he likes a woman who has her own thing and is not waiting around for him to call. I totally understand it. Nuff said – wish him much love and happiness with whomever he falls in love with.

I remember a tweet about going to see Avatar but I don’t remember him tweeting anything about Zoe.
Anyway, she’s a beautiful girl, good actress so I don’t see why he wouldn’t be into her.

I thought his crush would be on Alicia Keys. We all know he is a big fan of her music. I think they would make a great couple. They could make some very pretty and talented children together. I can only imagine the great music coming from such a relationship. But Zoe is very beautiful and talented too. So more power to you Max.

I love the photo. He is just too sexy for words (those eyes). I can’t wait to see him live in concert doing his thang.

@Evelyn N. Alfred – Well, judging by Zoe’s current boyfriend and talking to her at Fashion Week, I doubt this will happen.

@Rose Payne – It seems like he has a thing for model-types, which makes sense. For a guy who claims to have been a nerd or not given a second look in high school, I’d say now is the time to go live life and get that model that you’ve always wanted. LOL! The only catch is that these type of things never really last so enjoy it while you can. I know too many brothas caught in the physicality, but months into the relationship, they start to not like the real person. Substance over style should prevail.

I was shocked as well that he would actually answer the crush question. I have also been thinking about him & Alicia Keys. I don’t know who that lucky someone will be, but I do know she had better be good because his fans are gonna be ready. We gone be like family making sure she treats him right. She has to be pretty, sincere, athletic, and know how to cook plus have like a home girl kinda flair. Uhhh that is more like Alicia I think, but I don’t know about the cooking part…

What if, and for some this may be a stretch, but what if Max got with Oprah? Somebody respond please. It may not be so bad. She needs someone that is sensitive like him. And he needs a strong woman yet sincere like her. Discuss. I wanna know what others think. Oprah can be a cougar!

@ Jenny – That is not happening. I’m more inclined to believe that would be a publicity stunt. If Max got with O, I think his career would be a wrap. He would still be in the spotlight somewhat (as Mr. Winfrey), but his work would be overshadowed. He needs to be with someone who has her own thing going on (independent), but also doesn’t necessarily steal his shine. When a man says he wants a strong, independent woman, what he really is saying is have your own stuff going on, but know I’m the man in this relationship. I feel like O would always have the upper hand. In fact, the public and the media will make him feel like Mr. Winfrey. That’s a blow to any man’s ego. Insecurity at its best!

Ok, Ok, I thought we weren’t supposed to discuss his love life on the site? It might be a good idea if we pull this discussion back just a bit before we have him married with kids. Remember, everyone a crush can just be someone you admire; someone you appreciate or hold in high esteem. Sometimes a crush is just a crush. It doesn’t mean the two of them are walking down the aisle tomorrow. He probably just wants Ms. Saldana to know he appreciated another Latina out there doing her thing.

We all know that Max is honest (isn’t that what we say we want guys to be?) So I’m not surprised that he answered truthfully. He could have lied or said something witty or cute. But I guess he figured, hey, they asked and I answered, what’s the big deal? If you ask him a question, he’s either goin’ answer it truthfully or if he thinks you’re getting too personal he’ll tell you in that cool Brooklyn manner to mind your own business!

Again, sometimes a crush is just a crush.

I totally agree that a crush is just that. Cus my crush for him is outrageous, but I know that I’ll never get to get close enough to smell his essence!LOL!

However, I find this conversation interesting and love how it went full circle :)

Max and O..(naw)..like you RUNGNATEE I have a mad crush for Max!! And I did smell his essence I met him at his concert here in my hometown on 9/26/09..yeah this man smells good but those looks are my my my..I also agree with Soulshadow55 that a crush could be just someone you admire;appreciate or hold in high esteem.

And that’s what my crush is about with Max I admire his humility first, his uniqueness and how he always make sure he allows the artists that are performing with him and his band to shine.. He actually had (us) the audience give Jill Scott a standing ovation at his concert here on 5/22 (and she so deserved it) So he has all of these beautiful attributes in the inside which makes that gorgeous outside even more my my my….and then comes the crush 8-)

Lashea01 – can you elaborate on how you met Maxwell? I would love to read every little detail!!! Gosh, I only got a handshake from the stage. I’m jealous!! LOL!!

And you’re absolutely right in your comments about him. He’s what artists used to be like in the 1960′s and 70′s. They had a sense of class and fairness. Charlie Parker used to let Dizzy shine and Dizzy used to let Miles shine. Especially on those old R&B tours with the Temps, the 4 Tops, etc. They used to acknowledge other performers on the bill, and give the guys who came before their props. There was good, fun competition between artists to see who could get the audience in the biggest frenzy.

The hip-hop generation took it to a level where folks were killing other folks because they got more screams from the ladies, stayed on stage a minute too long or if someone said something they didn’t find flattering. These young guys can’t take a joke – it got real crazy out there.

Maxwell has sorta bought civility back to the R&B/Hip-hop stage. Oh, he won’t admit it but I’m sure he’s having a very big influence on other male artists. The suits, the attitude, the lyrics, the “aw schucks humility.” We’ll see over the next few years if the up and coming male artists take a cue from the Max.

See that’s what home training will do for you. And that’s why we have a crush on him!

@Soulshadow55. You are right, a crush is just a crush. I think we all just want to see Max happy. No matter who he crushes on, falls in love with or decides to marry, I just want him to keep on making music for us to enjoy.

Hey Sharon, I do as well. The things his music has brought me through – I can’t even begin to tell. And in my mind, he’s the son I never had so I’m praying like a mother for his happiness. He’s a good guy, he’s paid his dues and deserves all happiness that may come his way.

But I only wrote what I wrote because I remember the last time we got into a discussion about who he was dating and LMN had to do a retraction because of some of the comments and the entire discussion was wiped from the board. So I kinda just wanted the conversation to stay on the music and not get sidetracked on a crush.

Although the photo is SLAMMING!! Talk about a “crush,” I’d do hard labor breaking giant boulders into tiny little pieces to get with Max!

@SOULSHADOW55 I bought the magazine and the other peeps in there had mentioned their crushes. I agree with you because Jennifer Hudson said her celebrity crush is Jessica Alba,& Russel Brand said his is Tracy Morgan. So, your explanation of this is right on point. Thanks for clearing that up.

I agree with SoulShadow55 just listening to his music has been uplifting…and looking at him just takes me away!!! So yes I have a serious crush on him that includes that I admire and respect the man and his music. He always puts his fans first!
