A super hot show!…Let me start with Ms Jilly from Philly. What an amazing powerhouse voice she has. Her backup singers are no joke either. I loved the opera piece. Would totally see her again and again.***** As for Maxwell, he never disappoints. His band sets the groove and when Maxwell’s vocals hit that microphone the temperature is on “caliente”!!! Bad Habits is my favorite song by him and I simply become in a trance like state when I see him perform it along with thousands of other women there that night. Then he asks “do you want me to be your baby daddy?” Every female in that arena shouted a resounding “YESSSSSSSSS”!!!!

Jill burned AAC down last night and then Max rebuilt it and burned it to the ground again just to show everyone that he could.

9,000 people on their feet, dancing, swaying and singing to the fantastic sounds. It was a great night.

Nothing like having great performers giving their all and an audience who TRULY appreciates their effort by showing them MAD love.

Last night’s concert was like good loving. It involved partners mutually giving, receiving, and unselfishly sharing themselves with one another. Some people are destined to be stars. Jill Scott is one of them. As bold as she is heady; as disarming as she is awe inspiring. In Dallas, Ms. Scott stood in the middle of the American Airlines Ctr and convinced nearly 10k people that she was their best friend, their confidante, their lover, the one that got away and the one that’s yet to come. Strangely enough, watching her perform made you want to pray for her (you do know that real love has a spiritual component, right?). There has to be a divine filling to (night after night) give to thousands, a little bit of your light, your truth, your humanity, and your humor. We laughed with her, cried with her, reminisced and received what she willingly offered.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, sexy, soulful, Maxwell came along and put in the work! The very beautiful audience was given permission to let go and enjoy the ride. If you’d planned to passively hang back, you couldn’t. Certain moments demand participation. Fauxhawks got matted. Eyelashes were lifting. Jackets slipped off. And it felt good. Maxwell’s cognac-like vocals mixed with the devastatingly beautiful female singer, LaTina, were all you needed to be transported.
This show was worth every penny. It’s the morning after and I’m thinking a person could easily get addicted to feeling that good.

AJ, I loved your descriptive review of both Jill Scott and Maxwell’s performances. Like Ms. Deb I’m in anticipation mode, however, I’ll see Max on his home turf, New York. I’m still cool, calm and collected but two weeks and counting. That is the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. I’m hoping Max will sing Michael’s “Lady in My Life” as sort of a tribute. I love Michael’s version but Max’s version has his “special touch.”
