Max and Jilly killed in the nations capital tonight. Rumor has it the first lady was in the building. It was nice hearing Reunion and Drowndeep live. The Brooklyn Boy did his thing. He gave as well as DC was giving.

Sooo enjoyed THIS show!! This is my 2nd time seeing “The Tour” show but my 6th concert since His 2008 return!! I don’t know if it was b/c First Lady Michelle Obama was there but He was xtra HYPED even more energetic than my May concert! Also this is the first time that I heard Him sing the last verse to “Stop the World” correctly (or at least how it’s written) lol He’s even more on FIRE for whatever reason and I LOVE it…maybe He’s fueling off of this nonsense that “they” are trying to create!! Glad He’s proven to be unstoppable and looking/sounding and performing great while doing it!!

Jill was AWESOME again (as expected) and of course He praised her a few times during His show! So overjoyed that I got to see this concert one last time! Shoutout to Satina (a lmn subscriber and my concert buddy) lol Can’t wait for the 2011 tour!!

He turned Reunion into a two step song. Heh.

Ditto@CARLA AND ROBYN!

OMG!!!! This show was PHENOMENAL!!! Jill and Maxwell displayed 2 very different stage sets and they were both BEAUTIFUL!

Guy Torry was pretty funny, which I didn’t expect.

My girl JILLY FROM PHILLY tore it up! She EVOKED a roller coaster ride of EMOTIONS in me. I LAUGHED AND CRIED! Jill was COMICAL, ANIMATED, SINCERE and HEARTFELT. She cried on stage and that almost set off a chain of events. Women around me we sniffling and pulling out tissues! I LOVED JILL to say the least and would pay to see her ALONE in concert again.

MAXWELL, MAXWELL, MAXWELL… he surely showed his A$$ last night! Brotha was very ENERGETIC from the first moment he walked on stage! I could hardly get a still shot of him because he was constantly moving.

Maxwell and LaTina did an AWESOME job on “REUNION” together. My favorites were “STOP THE WORLD”, and “TILL THE COPS COME KNOCKING”. I knew he was going to go THERE & OH MY GOODNESS!!! He was Mr. NASTEE, FREAKY, DIRTY…I have to stop there, except to say I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!

He kept TEASING us towards the end of the night by leaving and saying GOODBYE and then we’d SCREAM like crazy and he’d run back and do another song. During one of those times he changed his shirt FROM WHITE TO BLACK. Oh my, I LOOOVED the BLACK SHIRT ON HIM!!

During “PRETTY WINGS” there was a beautiful display on the screen of him with VIRTUAL WINGS as he sang and talked.

BROTHA FROM BROOKLYN DID HIS THANG!!!!

It was a GROWN AND SEXY night!

I sure hope I win that Renaissance sweepstakes because I would do that night ALL OVER AGAIN!! But I’d bring my HONEY this time because the show evoked emotions of LOVE and ROMANCE. I really didn’t want him to see me ACT A FOOL OVER MAXWELL. So, we decided that he would stay home and I’d make this a GIRLS NIGHT OUT. Needless to say I have NO VOICE this morning lol!

I’D LIKE TO ALSO GIVE MY SHOUT OUTS TO GLORIA, DEBBIE AND RUTH my newly found friends and LMN buddies.

Hope your BIRTHDAY WAS BLESSED DEBBIE!

Sooo disappointed with Maxwell last night. His show last summer with Chrisette an Common was off the chain. I honestly don’t think he gave us 100%. I am not sure if his attitude had something to do with that or not but it was not the NASTY MAXWELL concert I am used to seeing him perform. Jill Scott was wonderful that North Philly Diva did the darn thang. Not sure if anyone else saw Patti Labelle or not but she could of got up there an gave us one note or two :)

Re: Maxwell/Jill Scott the TOUR: Washington,
DC (June 18, 2010) Did You Go?

“FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA” WAS IN THE BUILLDING!!! M confirmed this in a tweet! :)

The DEPTH of this COMPLIMENT IS TOO GRAND IN IT’S ENORMITY!… THE WIFE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WAS AT “MAXWELL’s” SHOW!!! :)

P.S. INCREDIBLE!!! :)

987128 June 19th, 2010 at 1:31 pm

Someone please tell me Maxwell cleaned up the language last night if indeed our First Lady was there…

Robyn June 19th, 2010 at 3:04 pm

@987128 I thought “Mr. Nasty” performed tastefully and kept it grown n sexy…definitely nothing that woulda had her “clutching her pearls”!! lol Which displayed great showmanship of knowing when it’s appropriate to break it ALL the way down!! ;-) Of course we wanted to hear it but certainly understood the “soft” talk :)

Rungnatee June 19th, 2010 at 10:54 pm

Yes, he Max was toned down a bit, but it was still a Grown and Sexy show. I’m sure the First Lady knew what to expect going to a Maxwell show. That’s probably why she came!! Just like the rest of us she wanted to see Mr. Nasty too!!

987128 June 20th, 2010 at 8:19 am

Did I miss out on something? When did he become “Mr. Nasty”? Oh dear. And “the rest of us” includes folks who just want to hear good music, not uh, “nastiness”.

Namaste June 20th, 2010 at 12:37 pm

Maxwell and Jill gave STELLAR performances in DC. My only complaint is that Max had to leave us. Can’t wait until the 2011 tour. If you have not seen him live you haven’t lived!

I knew someone special was in the building but had no clue is was our First Lady. That is so amazing and totally explains the toned down Max which I really appreciate and shows what a gentleman he is.

I can’t say enough good things about this man or his shows. This is the fifth time I have ever seen him and each time is like the first.

I LOVE YOU MAXWELL IN CASE YOU DIDN’T HEAR ME FRIDAY NIGHT!

Namaste

Namaste June 20th, 2010 at 12:38 pm

I thought I saw Iyanla Vanzant in the building also… did anyone else?

Kelliwel June 20th, 2010 at 12:42 pm

The show was awesome even compared to the October 2009 set. I really appreciated the nod to D.C.’s Go Go beat from both Jill Scott and Maxwell, that was priceless. DC fans let them know they were WELCOME here, way to go DC. Yeah, have to agree with others that Maxwell was toned down on the sexy talk, but now that I know Mrs. Obama was there, I understand why. Great show anyway with cool set design and kick’in bands. Ohhh it was soooo good to hear real, good M-U-S-I-C.
Thanks LMN for keeping Maxwell fans posted. You are wonderful.

Ms. Deb June 20th, 2010 at 2:18 pm

Awesome show. Jilly from Philly was funny, sexy, emotional and vocals were always on point. She really did her thing. Maxwell was on fire from the moment he hit the stage and he never let up. He looked and sounded amazing and his energy was thru the roof! He got emotional at one point when he was thanking the fans for not forgetting him while he was away, that was a really sweet moment. So humble and appreciative. He toned down the sexy talk a little, I’m sure it was out of respect for First Lady Obama, who was in the audience, as well as Patti Labelle.

@Rungnatee, thanks girl for the birthday shout out, you know my birthday was one to remember. It was really good to meet you and my other new friends Gloria and Ruth!!!

Robyn June 20th, 2010 at 4:01 pm

@ 987128 lol there is a segment where He gets “nasty” but by NO means does it take away from the GOOD music or the GREAT show!

@ Dawn & Namaste I also heard Patti LaBelle was there but wasn’t able to SEE either…so were they both there?!

@ Kelliwel I liked the Ascension “Go-Go Mix” too!

Ms. H June 21st, 2010 at 2:02 am

The show was awesome! I paid a pretty penny for the ticket, but damn if I didnt walk away a happy woman! Both Jill and Maxwell put on a great show. I was considering going to see him again in NY. Love that Brooklyn boy to death!

jazzy frog June 21st, 2010 at 10:29 am

OK, this was my 1st time seeing Maxwell and I was not happy with his performance. He shouted out DC in Every song and allowed the audience to sing most of his songs for him. His beautiful back-up singer earned his $$ for him Friday night. I paid $ to hear Maxwell and was not really pleased with him. Jill Scott was Awesome. She gives the crowd all she has and sings her songs (regardless if the crowd joins in or not). She has a lot of personality and it comes through in her performance. Maxwell…..you maxed out with me brotha!

The June 18th, show in DC was AWESOME !!!!!!!

Loved every minute of it. A must see if they are in your town!

blackbarbiekj June 21st, 2010 at 2:48 pm

WOW!
I thought the tickets were pricey but let me tell you … it was WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Jill was EXCELLENT!

Maxwell was EXCELLENT!

I want to go back and see it again!

I loved every moment of it.

A lot of tasteful nastiness, passion, love and good ole music!

BRAVO JILL & MAXWELL!
We love ya’ll!!!! ;0

Stephanie June 22nd, 2010 at 12:34 pm

Hands down…the show was awesome. I agree that it was a toned-down version of Maxwell but I welcomed it. He still kept it sexy without having to be too graphic but don’t get me wrong, I love any version of Max. There’s no one out there quite like him right now. He really showed his vocal range and he’s sexy as all-get-out on top of being able to sing his butt off! He also moves extremely well for a 37-year old man. LOL. I mean jumping doing splits and the whole nine. Very impressive! He also got a little emotional in thanking D.C. for their support. As if I could love him anymore… Now, Ms. Jilly… Absolutely amazing woman. So sassy and playful. She did an amazing job at keeping the audience engaged. She seems to be so down-to-earth. She did take us on a roller coaster ride of emotions during her performance. Robyn, I’m right there with you girl, it was my sixth time seeing Maxwell since he came back too. My husband has stopped going with me to all of the shows but that’s cool too. ;-)

Robyn June 23rd, 2010 at 2:25 am
