This was my first time seeing either of them in concert at MSG tonight and neither of them disappointed! The show was excellent! Ms. Scott was phenomenal! She walked out in an addidas warm up jacket and glittery pants that sparkled so much everyone in the top balcony surely could have seen them (most likely in honor of MJ) she got the crowd really hype with her boisterous vocals and powerful note holding. She even slow grinded with 1 of her backup vocalists which sent us in a frenzy (him being cute helped
She almost brought me to tears as she choked back her own during her rendition of “He loves me” but not only did she pull it together, she awesomely hit operatic like notes which brought everyone to their feet at the song’s closing for a standing ovation. Simply put, Jilly from Philly tore it down!
After a brief intermission where I grabbed some popcorn and sprite to snack on while chatting with my section seatmates, the theatre grew dark as a rick ross song blasted over the speakers (that one caught me by surprise and I was afraid that I was going to see ross’ big belly appear on stage…thank God it didn’t!) After the song subsided the stage lights glowed on and the man’s silhouette could be seen behind a screen as he danced to his band’s jamming chords. In one of the first few songs he sang about helping somebody and mentioned that his proceeds would go to Haiti relief. He then thanked the crowd for helping him to help someone else. He epitomizes sexy and danced throughout most of the show running to the left, right and center of the stage to shake hands with fans and egg them on to sing along to the songs. Some women threw panties on stage at him (hopefully not the ones they wore there…because he sniffed a pair!) And when he asked if he could be our “baby daddy” we all melted! He gave me a tingly feeling through his cover of “bad habit” as he did through all of the songs.
All in all it was a great show and worth every penny I spent on my $150 ticket. The two have re-inforced the reason why I am a fan of both and I will definitely support them in any other shows they do in NYC. I am a Maxwell, Jill Scott and Neo-Soul fan for life!
