“If all the Ladies are little kittens, say Meow!” And the crowd went “Meow”. The Maxwell concert with Erykah Badu was indeed a great know. Maxwell sang songs from his new album black/summers/night, as well as old sings like Lifetime, womans work, till the cops come locking and much more. While Maxwell interacted with the audience, Erykah was more concerned with interacting with her music. Erykah after many years of being out of the industry, she still remained that same strange artistic and great performer. She sang great and one could see how she felt the music as she did very artistic poses like putting her fist up in the air to represent liberation. This concert is definitely a must see Maxwell’s sexiness will keep you going home excited and yearning for your man.

I had the pleasure of going again tonight to MSG to see MS. BADU and MAXWELL (Hey it is my birthday month) :)
First off I was 5 rows from the stage, middle, right off the isle which for me was the perfect seat, because all night long when he looked out it looked like he was looking right at me. :) All night I could not believe how close I was.

Ms. Badu entered in a black top hat and a black trench coat, and dark blonde hair. I knew I was in for a treat. She had the attention of everyone in the audience. She did her thing and her voice is amazing, her band is great, and so are her back-up singers. I’m still in la-la land so I can’t really remember what she sang. Afterwards she ditched the trench coat to reveal a yellow tee, with her yellow pants pushed up to her knees, She did sing one of my favorites “ON & ON”, but she didn’t sing “Next Lifetime” or her new “Window Seat” song. However, I really enjoyed her performance…

Lights go down, and I know what’s about to come. MAXWELL hits the stage. I nearly lost my mind ladies when he took off those shades and looked straight at me, all I could do is cover my mouth with my hand because it was wide open. He was on fire and so was the band !!!! Maxwell got teary eyed and red faced and had a moment because as he says “He can’t believe it, he’s just a boy from Brooklyn” I love it. I love the fact that he thinks about others and is donating some of the money from the concerts to Haiti and other charities… only someone special does that and he is special. I loved the whole show and I even left my seat to get a closer look. I can understand now why he didn’t do the “Y” shape stage this time. I really think some of those ladies would have pulled him off if they could. One lucky lady got a peck kiss from him, and earlier he threw his towel out and it landed so close to me but not close enough. My favorite songs tonight were “Lifetime” and “Reunion”. The band was amazing, Keyon Harrold did his thing, as well as the others.

So all in all both NEW YORK concerts experiences were great for me, Jill’s voice was Golden, I became a fan. Badu did her thing and MAXWELL, it’s hard to put into words but I can say this…. I would pay top dollar to see MAXWELL again because he gives you every penny worth.

Thanks LMN for allowing me to share.

I went last night and the show was amazing. I hadn’t seen Maxwell since 2001 in Kansas City, MO. Maxwell is amazing to his fans and captures the essence of seduction better than any artist I know. Thank you for an amazing show in your hometown. God bless!

I absolutely love Maxwell’s music and the spirit (no pun intended) that he brings to his performance is amazing. I saw Maxwell, Mr. Torrey and Ms. Scott at Mohegan Sun, nice line up; a fabulous show!!! MSG… OMG, Maxwell blew my mind!!! I was on the floor so I was able to dance and sing along with him. I loved the fact that he included some of his earlier work such as Drowndeep: Hula, that’s one of my favorites. However, in my opinion, Ms. Badu… she should have stayed in Texas (I think that’s where she’s from). I never really dug her and she only validated my feelings. I don’t think she should perform in the same state as Maxwell let alone on the same stage, but that’s just me. But back to Mr. Man, I’ve seen Maxwell perform five times in the last two years and I am eagerly awaiting the release of his SUMMERS’ cd.

Wow, I was a little disappointed that Erykah was late and therefore did not perform Window Seat, lately she is showing up to gigs late and that is not professional or cool. However over all she is an amazing performer. As far as you Mr. Maxwell I thank god that you share your god given talent with us. I just saw him at the garden for my bday 9/28 and once again you killed it in a good way. He is an amazing performer and I will spend top dollar to see him anytime. Thank you god for Maxwell. Loved the show on Saturday.

My husband and I attended the Friday and Saturday night shows at MSG. We thoroughly enjoyed Jill Scott and Erika Badu, but Maxwell was simply remarkable. The closing show on Saturday night was the absolute best concert we ever attended. Maxwell really showed out. He even got teary eyed when he spoke of his childhood, being on public assistance and a free lunch program. He said he use to ride his bike past MSG never dreaming he would one day perform there. That really touched my heart. I wanted to take him in my arms and give him a big ole Mom hug and tell him he had made it and he is a true legend. I also wanted to tell him how very proud I am of him.

At one point during the Friday night show he threw his used towel in the audience. Some of the women beside me in front of the stage got so wild trying to grab it [towel] they actually knocked over a stage lamp sitting directly in front of Max. At that point I thought security was going to make everyone return to their seats, but a stage hand calmly came over and put the lamp back in place and never said a word. I brought my own towel that had Max’s name and “The Legend” embroidered on it. I gave it to him and he politely thanked me for the towel, wiped his face and kept the towel.

After the Saturday night show we attended the after party at the Renaissance Hotel in Time Square. We were told that we would not be allowed to take our own photos of Max. His management team provided a photographer for the event. Max and his entourage arrived a little before 1:00 AM. To my surprise he entered with one of my favorite actresses Rosie Perez. My husband I were seated on a window seat in a corner near the VIP section. Max promptly walked through the VIP section to the far corner where we were seated and shook our hands and asked how we were doing. I was so surprised by his genuine kindness that my mind went totally blank and I failed to ask any of the questions I always thought I would ask if I ever had the opportunity to meet Max. He turned and moved on to greet a group of ladies that were seated near us. What a missed opportunity…

Much later we later learned where we were seated was actually considered part of the VIP section, although the velvet ropes were on the other side. A Renaissance Hotel representative approached us and told us we had to leave that section, because Max’s “Management” said we were not supposed to be there. That really ticked me off as we had been sitting there for about an hour and a half at that point and there were no other seats available in the room. We never approached anyone in the VIP section. The only contact we had with anyone while seated there was when Max approached us and he did not appear to have a problem with us sitting there.

We are an unassuming middle-aged couple that had spent a considerable amount of money on VIP concert tickets (MSG) and a VIP hotel package (Renaissance) and were made to feel like vagrants. I’m not sure what was gained by asking us to move other then embarrassing two of Max’s biggest fans. The Renaissance hotel representative was polite and apologetic, but I think requesting us to move was in very poor taste, as the after party was actually promoted to hotel guests as an “intimate gathering with the star”.

I understand they have to be careful with Max’s security, but they should have told us not to sit there when we first came in, not after spending the bulk of the evening there. Needless to say our 26 year wedding anniversary weekend celebration became a little tainted at that point.

A few fans were allowed to take photos with Max, but I was never in the right area to get a shot with him until he was leaving. With assistance from a very nice man on Max’s team, a true professional, I was able to get a hug and a picture with Max before he and his bodyguard disappeared on the elevator. Max was so sweet, his parting words to me were “God bless”. I did manage to meet and get a photo with Rosie Perez. She is really beautiful and so sweet. I also got a photo with Hod David whom seems to be a pretty cool guy.

@Sharon – sorry to hear that about the Renaissance Hotel. I am glad you got to meet and take a picture with Maxwell. And a bonus with Rosie Perez.
