WOW!!! I was at this event and waited until 11:10 pm to see Maxwell come on stage after Musiq Soulchild. Rumors spreaded that Maxwell was late so Maze featuring Frankie Beverly came on. Several of us left broken hearted. We arr’d at 7 pm to get good seats and due to earlier Inaugural activities we had attended during the day we were tired and not to mention I had to be at work by 6 am the next morning. Maxwell was the only reason most of us paid over $200 for these tickets. Then we learned from others that left at 1:30 am that Maxwell did arrive and was still performing on stage when they left. Please can someone tell me what happened? I’m now hesitant to buy Maxwell tickets in the future.

I attended the Victory Ball, I say horrible planning by the organizers. The doors opened at 6pm, the show started at 8pm. The first 2 hrs local acts, Musiq SoulChild sounded horrible. Most of us had a very early start to attend the swearing in ceremony of President Obama and to come to this ball to stand all night after paying $200 for tickets was crazy to me. Frankie doesn’t come on until 11pm, I gave up and left at 11:30pm, after being up for 20 hrs straight, I never got to see Maxwell, we left at 11:30pm and Frankie was just on his 2nd song.

I attended the Victory Ball on Monday evening. There were some problems with the event (e.g. late start time and end time), but we were told before the event started that a prayer breakfast that was held at the venue earlier in the day caused the event to get pushed back. There was a lot happening (4 artists to perform and dancing between acts with a DJ spinning the music), but I have to say, I really had a great time. Maze was amazing (never seen them live before), and Maxwell was wonderful. I worried that he might not come on, with the hour being so late (I think he came on stage about 1:00 am), but he looked fresh, excited, and ready to perform! The stage was set up mainly toward the very expensive seats, but he made everyone feel as though he was playing to everyone in the way he worked the stage and acknowledged the crowd. I moved a little closer to the stage, and had never seen him so close. I am truly sorry for those that could not stay and see him. I would have been disappointed too! I was tired and my feet hurt at the end of the evening, but I had a blast!

We attended this amazing event! We had VIP seating etc so did not arrive until 8:45, just in time for the delectable food and spirits! Musiq Soulchild gave a great performance, followed by a well-received Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.

Maxwell hit the stage and we stayed until he was DONE!!!! It was a wonderful experience as he put on a fabulous show as always. I have been to several Maxwell concerts, as he is my absolute favorite artist, and I must say I was close enough to touch him & exchange eye contact with him! I WOULD NOT discourage anyone from attending a Maxwell concert!

The Victory Ball was awesome, but the artists made the ball. As was said earlier Maxwell did a great!!! job of working the stage to include the entire audience!!!!! Although, it was organized to appease the rich. For me, 200 is a lot and I don’t think it was too much to expect to be able to sit at a table or at least a chair. I know the group is a nonprofit, but it was very obvious they valued the few more the many in how the organized the venue.

I wish I could have been there. I definitely would have bought the VIP ticket. I’m too old to be standing around to see anyone. Okay I may have made an exception for Maxwell…lol
