Happy Holidays! Last week, Mediabase released their year-end charts and if you read the title correctly, Maxwell was the #1 Urban AC Most Played Artist. The singles FISTFUL OF TEARS, BAD HABITS AND PRETTY WINGS, also made the year-end charts. Check out that information below.

Maxwell is on Billboard’s Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists of the Past 25 Years List

November 18, 2010, Billboard.com released their listing of the top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists of the last 25 Years and Maxwell made the list. Check out the information below to see where Maxwell was placed. According to Billboard, the tally was based on actual performance on the weekly Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts from Jan. 5, 1985, issue to the charts dated Nov. 6, 2010.

The neo-soul singer, enjoyed a string of R&B/Hip-Hop Songs hits between 1996 and 2001, including “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)” (No. and “Fortunate” (eight weeks at No. 1). After an eight-year hiatus — “I didn’t intentionally step away from all of it, but I just wanted to … live my life a little bit, and then be able to make music with that pure experience again,” he explained — Maxwell returned last year with the album “BLACKsummers’night,” which became his second No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and included the 14-week No. 1 single, “Pretty Wings.”

Spins Update: Fistful of Tears is #1

After 19 weeks, FISTFUL OF TEARS is in the number one position (for the first time) on the Urban AC charts with 2088 spins/plays. Nice. The video for Fistful of Tears was filmed sometime at the end of January and was directed by Philip Andelman (who also directed Pretty Wings). The video could possibly also include, band members who have toured with Maxwell. At the pinning of this entry, no word yet on when the video will be released. Hopefully soon.

And in other news, the PRETTY WINGS single was certified Gold by RIAA as of March 04, 2010.

FISTFUL OF TEARS has been doing quite nicely on the URBAN AC charts and comes in at the #6 position this week, a +2 increase from last week, with 1253 spins. Not far behind the new single, in fact at the #7 position, is BAD HABITS with 1226 spins. On the URBAN charts, FISTFUL OF TEARS comes in at the #36 position with 517 spins. If you want these singles at the number one position on the charts, request the music for airplay on your local radio.

Some developments have occurred over the past few days. FISTFUL of TEARS, the “supposed” third single from BLACKsummers’night, does not have an official release date for the single (for purchase). But the single was added to several radio station playlists, November 2009.

This is not necessarily new information, just something that will make you scratch your head in wonder. Just this week, a couple of websites have begun to report that, HELP SOMEBODY Remix f/Nas will be the third single from BLACKsummers’night. Just wondering, WHICH ONE IS IT?

So…if you enjoy listening to FISTFUL OF TEARS and if your local radio station is playing the song, continue to request it. Also, late December 2009, it was reported that BLACKsummers’night has achieved Platinum status. Check out the charts below.

Remember a few entries back when LMN mentioned that FISTFUL OF TEARS was itching to join BAD HABITS and PRETTY WINGS? Well, the single is still itching. Over the past few weeks, the single has lingered further down the U.S. airplay charts in the twenties as opposed to HABITS and WINGS and currently caters to a listening market of a little over 1 million.
