The Latest Maxwell News (2010), 10 Times the Love continues with Maxwell Said It. Over the years, Maxwell has done hundreds, if not thousands of interviews. Often times, he has referred to something or mentioned something and his words have stuck with us. Below, is a collection of 10 quotes from Maxwell over the past few years of his career that LMN adores.

These quotes capture who Maxwell is or possibly what he was experiencing at different points in his career. The things many of his fans adore (humble, charming, intelligent, etc.) and respect about him as a man and as an artist, is hinted to in the quotes. Maxwell said several times he loves Femi and he loves Fela. (2 well respected African singers) He also said that he loves all those African singers. Then he went on to say that the intersection between Africa and America is so unique. Maxwell’s acknowledgment of the intersection of Africa and America proves that he has an inquisitive mind that has probably studied the history of Africans throughout the Diaspora. The Latest Maxwell News (2010) presents to you 10 Times the Love, a week long series with all things related to Maxwell and love. If you will, call it a pre-Valentine’s Day celebration. In 10 Times the Love: Lyrically Speaking, we have compiled 10 of Maxwell’s lyrics that set the mood for love (all forms) in it’s purest state.

Why We Love It:
All the lyrics speak truth as to how both men and women play games with one another. The title track says it all to me, “Let’s Not Play The Game”. Why put yourself in a position with someone who is not honest with you? In knowing their agenda from the beginning, would you want to date them?

2. GRAVITY: PUSHING TO PULL (Embrya, 1998)

Why We Love It:
I like the idea of this man wanting to be with this woman as a deliberate act. A conscious choice of choosing this person, this moment and being completely aware of how his senses are driving him.

3. LIFETIME (Now, 2001)

Lyric:
I can let my life pass me by or
I can get down and try
Work it all out this lifetime
Work it all on out this time

Why We Love It:
When you have gotten down to the breaking point but there is a piece of hope telling you to, get back up. Love yourself, first, last, and always or at some point in your life. You have to be the person who makes the decision to change yourself for the better.

4. FISTFUL OF TEARS (BLACKsummers’night, 2009)

Lyric:

The only thing I wanna throw is a fistful of tears

Why We Love It:
Even though the relationship is not going along accordingly, he is still willing to stick around and fight it out. Not at each other but together to make it work.

5. REUNION (Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite, 1996)

Lyric:

So long but now it’s true

Girl, it’s our reunion

Why We Love It:
This entire song is very precious and endearing. You have been on the hunt for the one and found them. The love is so good and real, it’s like you have known/loved each other in another life. And you have found each other again, in the present life.

6. LOCK YOU UP N’ LOVE FA DAYS (Ascension: Don’t Ever Wonder – The Tribute, 1996)

Lyric:
You never knew about the others baby
He made you feel his love was real
But now you know that things are not that way

If it’s alright with you

Why We Love It:
These words most women want to hear after they have been in a relationship with a loser and have found time to heal from it. But the words are coming from, what seems like, the perspective of the guy that has been watching everything on the sly. Every girl loves a genuine knight in shining armor.

7. GET TO KNOW YA (Now, 2001)

Lyric:
Others were tryin to get in your trousers
I was just tryin to get into you
I was just tryin to get with you, honest
That’s why them boys be scared of you

When you find the time, how can I get to know ya

Why We Love It:
A woman’s personality, her mind and her heart are valued more than getting physical with her. For someone to want to take the time to get to know what makes her unique is more valuable than immediately going to bed with her. A woman doesn’t feel objectified but loved for her brain.

8. SOFTLY, SOFTLY (Sweetback) (Sweetback, 1996)

Why We Love It:
If this were a line…what a pick up it would be! Someone, maybe so mesmerizing to make you want to be born again?!
Please let me know what type of lotion you are using on your hands because I want that affect on someone!

9. PLAYING POSSUM (BLACKsummers’night, 2009)

Lyric:

Why We Love It:
Here is a guy who is asking for love to reveal itself again. Even though the situation seems sad, like a love is being played with, it takes coming from a place deep down in your heart to put your feelings out in the open. Especially, when you think someone could possibly be playing around.

This song rings a familiar tune, similar to Stop the World. Each and every moment in time, I want pieces of you and me to come together in love until we both drive one another into a frenzy.

All this weekend, including today, grammy.com/live will show you footage of what is going on, including the big show on Sunday. A quick check to the news revealed some interesting findings. The Pre-GRAMMY Gala red carpet will occur tomorrow night and there are a few sites reporting that Maxwell may perform at Clive Davis’ famous ball. This information is labeled as speculation but it does not hurt to air on the side of caution. It’s happening, check it out this weekend online.

The schedule this weekend mentions there will be footage shown of the Pre-Grammy Gala red carpet online at 7:45 p.m. (P.T.), SATURDAY (January 30, 2010). But this offers those of us on the outside looking in with an opportunity to people watch. Some big names are expected, you might want to tune in before the main event on Sunday which you can also watch online.

Update (January 27, 2010): Hello everyone, I believe TIME magazine has conducted the interview with Maxwell for the upcoming issue. Just in case, your question did not get answered, I have decided to keep this entry open for questions. Maybe, just maybe in the future your question(s) will be answered.

The LMN 2010 Survey is now closed via deactivation. To those who took the time and filled out the survey which could have taken from 5 minutes to 15 minutes, I would like to thank you deeply from the bottom of my heart. It really helped in understanding where everyone was with the LMN brand. Below is a brief run through of general statistics.

The majority of those who took the survey were Females (95.24%) in the Age Range of 35-49 (56.61%) who have known about the website for 6 months to 2 years (62.44%) and visit the site at a percentage of 3 times per week (31.22%) or everyday (33.33%). (80%) of survey takers want to see more LMN created content (*) while (93.65%) are satisfied with LMN as is (no changes needed).

The other results obtained require further examination. It appears those who had suggestions have a high chance of those suggestions being fulfilled the jury is still out though. Again, thank you to those who took this survey.
