It was just last night in New York when a few fans got their wishes fulfilled for an intimate concert featuring Maxwell and his world renowned band members. Janell Snowden, from VH1 News, interviewed with Maxwell shortly before the taping of Storytellers began.  “…it’s a must see!,” Snowden tweeted. She also went on to tweet, Maxwell wants us to really FEEL the music. During “Drown Deep” (Embrya), he had a guy blowing bubbles into a vase w/ a mic. Sounds like it was a night to remember. Make sure you tune in to VH1, JUNE 17, 2011 at 11pm (Eastern) for the airing of MAXWELL – VH1 STORYTELLERS.

The first post of 2011 here on The Latest Maxwell News and it’s good news. VH1 Storytellers just released information on its 15th anniversary season and the lineup includes none other than singer/songwriter, Grammy award winning, Maxwell. For those who don’t know, this show is similar to MTV Unplugged but offers a more intimate spin on connecting with the audience. This season will also feature such artists as Kings of Leon, CeeLo Green, Ray LaMontagne, My Morning Jacket, and Death Cab For Cutie. Kings of Leon will start the season off this May.

Hailing back to the show’s early roots, the new season will aim to provide a truly personal showcase for some of the greatest songwriters of today. The “VH1 Storytellers” music specials focus on the anecdotes, artistic musings and stories that inspired the artists and their music. These performers aren’t afraid to tell all as they expose the most intimate details of their creative process for the audience.

The 42nd NAACP Image Awards (2011) nominations are in and Maxwell has garnered 2 nominations, one for Outstanding Music video (Fistful of Tears) and one for Outstanding Song (Fistful of Tears). Congratulations! Catch the 42nd annual NAACP Image Awards on FOX, March 04, 2011 at 8pm Eastern/7pm Central.

Last year in 2010, Maxwell received 5 nominations and took home, Outstanding Male Artist.

Like many other years, 2010, has been one to remember. Wonderful things happened this year that were top picks and favorites of The Latest Maxwell News. Sadly, some tragic things also happened this year that will affect nations of people for the rest of their lives. We have much to be thankful for and much to look forward to in the coming 2011. Below is a run-through of this past year. If you have any favorite Maxwell moments from this year, feel free to share them.

J A N U A R Y |   Previously in December 2009, we learned that Maxwell was nominated for 6 (52nd Annual) Grammy Awards. Hooray for him and those who make music with him. Just as we were getting our feet wet into the year, so to speak, Haiti was hit by a massive earthquake which claimed many lives. Organizations, websites, peoples, etc. urged those who could provide to send relief to those in need. Please continue to send to those in need, if you can.

Maxwell, along with his band members, went on to appear on such programs as BET Honors, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and The Grammys. Ah, the Grammys! Our favorite part of the month!! We now get to say, “2-Time Grammy Award Winning Artist Maxwell.” Again, congratulations to Maxwell and those involved with making the music. For a look back on All Things Grammy, click here. F E B R U A R Y |   Sometimes, the shortest months are the sweetest. Maxwell won an NAACP Image Award, had an interviews featured in TIME and Playboy magazines, and we learned of his upcoming tour with Jill Scott. (February 2010)

M A R C H / A P R I L / M A Y |   More interviews and more award winning (NABOB, named Maxwell Entertainer of the Year), along with anticipation for the upcoming tour. In the month of April, we had tears. Fistful of Tears was performed on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Dancing with the Stars. The video for the song debuted on Vevo.com. In May, the arena tour with Maxwell and Jill Scott, co-headlining, kicked off. (March – May 2010)

J U N E / J U L Y |   Concert shows, concert shows, concert shows, interviews and a television appearance (The Today Show’s Toyota Concert Series). We got word in June that Maxwell would be postponing the remaining dates of his tour which would feature Melanie Fiona and Estelle (on select dates) as opening acts. (June – July 2010)

D E C E M B E R |    Early part of the month, the new cover for blackSUMMERS’night was released. Cool. We got to hear Maxwell sing Christmas songs! How wonderful and definitely a nice close to the year. (December 2010)
