SheKnows: Thank you so much for talking to SheKnows Entertainment’s Music Channel. It’s such an honor and pleasure to speak with you today.
Maxwell: Hey man, thanks for having me.

SheKnows: I was curious when an artist takes a long period between projects, as you’re about to release it — normally there’s something going that’s through you — nerves, excitement, apprehension. Is it any different after you’ve taken eight years?
Maxwell: It’s like times 10.

SheKnows: Really?
Maxwell: Yeah because it’s like the time weighs itself against, you know, all of it at once, there’s always a level of all that you just stated, that go into all that pre-stuff before you release a record. But when you have all that time away, and you realize whole careers have begun and ended in your absence, and you’re like “whoa” what makes you think that you can actually get over this time is the thought that keeps hitting you. So it’s with great surprise and humility that I took in all that occurred with the album. I was like “Wow”. But then it was a great blessing and I see all the miracle of it, so it’s been incredible. Sun Singleton over at Soulsummer.com took the time to write a wonderful article about Maxwell and his twitter habits. His steadfast humanitarianism and love for other artist’s music (Marsha Ambrosius, Tweet, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and Robert Glasper) was highlighted. If you have the time, check out the article it really shows how words (Maxwell’s words) have power.

Twitter is all the rage and superstars like Maxwell are making use of the creative social-networking platform to shine light on fellow visionaries making music beneath the mainstream radar.

Grammy-winning soul singer Maxwell’s much-ballyhooed return to music was 2009’s version of Sade’s divine comeback this year, it was like “okay, mainstream soul actually can still offer listeners subtlety, virtuosity and glamour.”

In truth, Maxwell and Sade returning to soul music within a year of each other felt like soul music lovers were finally being treated to some authentic soul food after a daily Dollar-Meal diet of auto tune offerings from a trendy plethora of rappers singing and singers rapping on the radio. It was a relief to rediscover that magic could still be channeled into this music. Two credible soul icons of the nineties re-emerged after their decade-long sabbaticals, and soul music lovers everywhere were thrilled to welcome them back to their bedroom playlists. INTERVIEW: Maxwell w/the Morning Show Maddhouse (WPEG Power 98) (radio)

Today, Maxwell hit up several radio stations (The Russ Parr Show, Max 94 One, etc.) across the US to promote his upcoming tour with Jill Scott. Charlotte, NC’s own Morning Show Maddhouse with No Limit Larry on WPEG Power 98 got the chance to do an interview with Maxwell today. He mentioned that even though the state was not mentioned on the initial tour dates announced it “may” be added in later. Fingers crossed, anyone? Maxwell also went on to speak about his relationship status as well as when the next album may be released. Check out the interview below.

Maxwell to be Honored as Entertainer of the Year (NABOB 2010)

Maxwell along with Gamble and Huff (legendary songwriters) and Hezekiah Walker (award-winning Gospel artist) will be honored at the 26th National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters Annual Communications Awards Dinner. The dinner will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 7PM at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. Maxwell, will receive the 2010 Entertainer of the Year Award. Congratulations to Maxwell!

This year’s dinner will also feature a live all-star tribute to the late Teddy Pendergrass, featuring Peabo Bryson, Joe, and the Ray Chew Band; and a video tribute to Inner City Broadcasting founder, the late Percy Sutton.

Catch Maxwell Tonight on the 41st NAACP Image Awards

Maxwell received 5 nominations for the 41st NAACP Image Award. The awards show will air live on Friday, February 26, 2010 (8PM – 10PM ET/PT Tape-Delayed) on FOX. The show will take place at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. OnTheTube: 41st NAACP Image Awards (February 26, 2010)

Maxwell is scheduled to appear on the broadcast along with Mary J. Maxwell and Jill Scott to Tour Starting This May (2010)

According to Maxwell’s newsletter, he and Jill Scott (singer-songwriter, actress and designer) will hit some 20 cities here and there across the U.S., starting May 21, 2010 in Cleveland, Ohio on an arena tour. Over on the side area, there is a section for featured videos. Now, in case some of you all are wondering why is there a Taylor Swift video being featured, you have got to check it out. Turns out Swift did a behind the scenes video for Ellen’s show from the 2010 Grammys as she is getting ready and you hear some familiar voices in the background.

It gives us a glimpse and a listen to Maxwell and Roberta Flack rehearsing before their Grammy performance and it is impressive. Would LOVE to see more moments like this…
