November 18, 2010, Billboard.com released their listing of the top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists of the last 25 Years and Maxwell made the list. Check out the information below to see where Maxwell was placed. According to Billboard, the tally was based on actual performance on the weekly Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts from Jan. 5, 1985, issue to the charts dated Nov. 6, 2010.

The neo-soul singer, enjoyed a string of R&B/Hip-Hop Songs hits between 1996 and 2001, including “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)” (No. and “Fortunate” (eight weeks at No. 1). After an eight-year hiatus — “I didn’t intentionally step away from all of it, but I just wanted to … live my life a little bit, and then be able to make music with that pure experience again,” he explained — Maxwell returned last year with the album “BLACKsummers’night,” which became his second No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and included the 14-week No. 1 single, “Pretty Wings.”

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and aside from BLACKsummers’night being offered during season of love for $7.99 (itunes), Billboard has debated over who is the sexiest person in music (female and male). They cannot seem to come to a consensus that person so, they have made a listing. Guess what name popped up on the list? You already know…MAXWELL. You get your chance to vote on Maxwell as the sexiest person in music. The votes are in, see where Maxwell landed on the list.

The Billboard office has seen its share of arguments, but few have been as heated as our recent discussion about the sexiest people in music. Some developments have occurred over the past few days. FISTFUL of TEARS, the “supposed” third single from BLACKsummers’night, does not have an official release date for the single (for purchase). But the single was added to several radio station playlists, November 2009.

This is not necessarily new information, just something that will make you scratch your head in wonder. Just this week, a couple of websites have begun to report that, HELP SOMEBODY Remix f/Nas will be the third single from BLACKsummers’night. Just wondering, WHICH ONE IS IT?

So…if you enjoy listening to FISTFUL OF TEARS and if your local radio station is playing the song, continue to request it. Also, late December 2009, it was reported that BLACKsummers’night has achieved Platinum status. Check out the charts below.

BLACKsummers’night saw a fall on the Billboard 200 charts the reporting week of December 26, 2009. But there is good news, the album is less than 125,000 units to 1 million units/albums sold which equals platinum status. Sometime between the months of late January and late February the album will be there. On U.S. airplay charts, BAD HABITS still holds the top position on the Urban AC charts. If you would like to see it remain there, as well as all of Maxwell’s current singles staying on the charts make that request.

On Billboard Critics’ Top 10 Albums of 2009, Maxwell’s BLACKsummers’night tied in the #9 position with Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest. To see how the list was constructed click here.
